The Volleyball Federation of Cambodia (VFC) has started selection trials to pick their national women’s team. The ongoing trials at the at the Visakha volleyball court. The successful players will be sent to a training camp in China in preparation for next year’s South East Asian Games in Cambodia.
Aing Sereypiseth, the general secretary of the Volleyball Federation of Cambodia, said that it marks a new era for Cambodian volleyball.
“The federation will do everything it takes to forge a Cambodia women’s national volleyball team to compete at the SEA Games next year. We have a long-term plan to develop the team, but the expectations is not high for the coming SEA Games,” said.
Sereypiseth also stated that planing and building of the team must start from now for the future of a strong Cambodian volleyball squad.
“Creating a women’s team is a new beginning. We have invited players from many provinces to join the trial, and up to now we have received many applications from up to 11 provinces. We are trying to select a team with the best players to train in China. A group of 15 players and coaches will head to China for a training camp,” he added.
The exact dates for the selected players departure to China would be confirmed yet by the NOCC in due course.
