The Volleyball Federation of Cambodia has planned several international friendly matches for Cambodia men’s volleyball national team to prepare the 32nd South East Asian (SEA) Games in 2023.
Cambodia will host this biggest multi-sport event in the Southeast Asian region for the first time in history, so the Volleyball Federation of Cambodia is working hard to win medals for the Kingdom.
As a part of the SEA Games preparation, the Federation will organize the Hun Sen Volleyball Championships from 13 to 16 October and invite the Singapore men’s volleyball national team for a friendly match with Cambodia.
“In our Federation’s master plan, we will have several international friendly matches overseas,” said Aing Sereypiseth, the Secretary General of the Volleyball Federation of Cambodia.
“We might head to Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, or Indonesia. We are not sure where we can go and how many friendly matches we can play as everything depends on our budget.
“We want to use friendly matches to evaluate our team performance. Now we have a squad of 10 players who are training hard. We can see and evaluate their performance only based on matches.
“We will play some friendly matches overseas, and win or loss is not important for us. The idea is to evaluate our team performance and figure out what we need to improve ahead of SEA Games 2023. We want to win gold medal at home.”
The Cambodia men’s volleyball national team won bronze medals at the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam this year, and they aim big at the 32nd SEA Games at home to bring joy to the Kingdom.
