4 points highlighted by Prime Minister at National Games and Para Games

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the third National Games and first National Para Games, Prime Minister Hun Sen highlighted 4 important points prior to the first South East Asian (SEA) Games in Cambodia in 2023.

The Prime Minister also praised Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, National Olympic Committee of Cambodia and relevant stakeholders for a great cooperation and solidarity to hold the third National Games and first National Para Games.

The National Games and National Para Games will give Cambodia a great experience to develop the national athletes’ skills and talent for SEA Games 2023.

To promote sports in the Kingdom as a part of SEA Games 2023 preparation, the Prime Minister stressed on the following 4 points:

1- The national athletes need to follow the sport rules and regulations to promote fair-play, dignity and profession as each sport has its own standard.

2- Promote national campaign ‘One Person, One Sport’ and other campaigns that promote environment protection, good hospitality, awareness of bad impacts of drugs, traffic accident reduction and especially ’Sports Live in Peace’.

3- Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport must play an important role to promote sports and strengthen the linkage between sports and social work to solve social problems and promote economic actions as sports could be seen as green tourism and effective diplomatic to create friendship, integration and peace.

4- National Olympic Committee of Cambodia and especially Cambodia SEA Games Organizing Committee need to enhance cooperation, training, and technical development of the national athletes as much as possible ahead of SEA Games 2023 and other international events.

38 sports have been included at the National Games and 7 at the National Para Games, with five venues used included Phnom Penh, Kep, Kampot, Sihanoukville, and Siem Reap.
