Day to PARA GAMES
The President of Cambodia Vovinam Federation, Ou Rathana, believed there is room for improvement for the national Vovinam athletes after evaluating their performance at the National Games.
Cambodia will host the 32nd South East Asian (SEA) Games for the first time in history, and Rathana has urged the national Vovinam athletes to make more effort ahead of this historic event in 2023.
The Vovinam event took place from 19-22 November at the National Games this year, with Rathana lauding a smooth organization thanks to technical officials’ hard work.
He also reckoned the organization as a success as it was aligned with the International Vovinam Federation’s technical standard. This is a positive sign for Cambodia as a part of SEA Games 2023 preparation.
“The event went smoothly, but I think there’s room for improvement for our national Vovinam athletes,” said Rathana.
“They need to improve their technical ability and energy. They need to take care of their weight at their respective weight. That means they shouldn’t try to reduce their weight just before the event. This can affect their performance, and the opponents can take advantage from this, too.”
Rathana also urged the athletes who did not win medals and who are not in the national team not to lose hope and keep trying their best in other national events to get an opportunity to be in the national team.
Ministry of National Defense won the first place at the National Games in Vovinam event this year after grabbing 8 golds, 2 silvers and 1 bronze followed by Ministry of Interior who won 7 golds, 4 silvers and 4 bronzes.
2 golds, 6 silvers and 3 bronzes saw Svay Rieng secure the third place at the Games.
