Day to PARA GAMES
The wrestling event in the third National Games finished on 22 November, and the Vice President of the Wrestling Federation of Cambodia Casey Barnett was impressed by the national athletes’ progress.
Casey gave a high evaluation on the national athletes’ performance with small room for improvement ahead of the 32nd South East Asian (SEA) Games in Cambodia in 2023.
He believed that the national athletes had everything it took to challenge for medals at the Games next year.
The Federation has targeted at least 7 medals at the Games next year as it is a historic moment for Cambodia to host this biggest multi-sport event for its first time.
7 teams took part in wrestling at the third National Games, with Ministry of Interior winning the first place after they grabbed 6 golds, 2 silvers and 1 bronze.
Ministry of Economy and Finance secured second place after winning 5 golds, 5 silvers and 2 bronzes.
Third-placed Kampong Chhnang won 1 gold, 1 silver and 6 bronzes.
After the National Games, the national wrestling team is set to take part in the Southeast Asian Wrestling Championship in December.
