Cambodia hosting SEA Ouk Chaktrang Championship

Kuch Kimlong, the president of Cambodia Ouk Chaktrang Federation, said that the SEA Ouk Chaktrang Championship 2023 aimed to promote Cambodian Ouk Chaktrang (Chess) to international stage and toward the 32nd South East Asian (SEA) Games in Cambodia in 2023.

He also stated that the international event (Pre-SEA Games) is another pride for the Kingdom, which is able to promote Cambodian Ouk Chaktrang to Southeast Asian region.

Ouk Chaktrang is a Cambodian traditional chess that requires players to be intelligent and have full concentration.

The SEA Ouk Chaktrang Championship 2023 has been organized for 7 days from 7th to 13th January with the support from the Cambodia SEA Games Organizing Committee (CAMSOC) and Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of Cambodia.

Five countries included Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos and host Cambodia are taking part in the SEA Ouk Chaktrang Championship 2023, with 62 delegates, referees and athletes participating in the event.

The event will also be used to evaluate the national athletes’ performance and to allow the referees, judges and athletes to figure out the policy, rules and regulations of the game.

Both national athletes and officials are expected to earn a lot of international experience from the event as a part of SEA Games 2023 preparation.
