The National Paralympic Committee of Cambodia has prepared athletes in 11 sport disciplines for the 11th ASEAN Para Games 2022 in Solo city, Indonesia.
Yi Veasna, Secretary General of the National Paralympic Committee of Cambodia, confirmed the status with optimism that the Cambodian athletes have very good potential to win medals.
The 11 sport disciplines include athletics, swimming, men’s and women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s wheelchair basketball, blind basketball, Seven-a-side football, table tennis, badminton, weightlifting, chess, and boccia.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and Chair of the National Paralympic Committee of Cambodia exclusively sponsored all Cambodian sport athletes to join the ASEAN Para Games 2022.
According to the secretary general, Indonesia has volunteered to take up the role as the host of 11th ASEAN Para Games after Vietnam decided to drop it.
As scheduled the games will take place from July 30 to Aug. 6, featuring 14 sport disciplines, and over 2,000 athletes, delegates, and coaches across the region are expected to join the event.
In the 9th ASEAN Para Games in Malaysia, Cambodia won 5 silver and 5 bronze medals.
