Chea Senvisoth, the Secretary General of the Soft Tennis Federation of Cambodia, said the Federation will send its athletes for an overseas training camp ahead of the 2022 NH Nonghyup Bank Incheon Korea Cup International Soft Tennis Tournament in South Korea.
The Federation is hopeful that the overseas training camp will help to improve the athletes ahead of the 32nd South East Asian (SEA) Games in Cambodia next year.
Eight athletes headed to South Korean on 31 August for a three-week training camp and to take part in the 2022 NH Nonghyup Bank Incheon Korea Cup International Soft Tennis Tournament.
Senvisoth said that the Federation had a plan to request to the Cambodian SEA Games Organizing Committee for a foreign coach to train the athletes for seven or eight months ahead of the SEA Games 2023.
The Federation targets at least three gold medals from the SEA Games 2023 from seven different disciplines including singles and doubles for man and woman and mixed doubles.
The Federation often sends its athletes to have overseas training camps and take part in international tournaments in South Korea, China, the Philippines, and Thailand.
Up to now, the Federation has collected sixty international medals including ten golds, nineteen silvers and thirty-one bronzes.
